Computer Hardware

The physical parts of a Computer are called hardware. Yes, hardware physically exists. It can be seen and we can touch the physical parts. These physical parts are repairable and replaceable.

Hardware components are manufactured on an  industrial scale. Such components are of great value for Computer users.

Each and every unit of hardware has a function. There is a hardware for capturing information. Hardware that captures information is called  the input unit. Examples of input units are keyboard and mouse.

Separate hardware is there for processing of data. Data processing work is carried out by the Central Processing Unit ( CPU ). The CPU has two sections ALU ( Arithmetic Logic Unit ) and CU ( Control Unit ).

The ALU carries out arithmetic operations. Besides it also carries out comparisons of digits. Comparison Operations are called Logical Operations.

Computer operations cannot be conducted in any way. There has to be a discipline. Disciplinary control is made possible by the Control Unit. It is under the supervision of the Control Unit that all Computer operations are conducted.

What is there inside a Computer cannot be understood. The output unit displays information that is inside the  Computer. The information is displayed in human readable form. Examples of output units are computer screen and printer. Computer Screen is called as the Visual Display Unit ( VDU ).

With the passage of time Hardware front has been seeing a lot of advancements. Technology is reducing the size of hardware components. Also, performance is shooting up.

The age of self-driven, automatic hardware is catching the attention of Computer Hardware scientists. Computer Hardware is getting more and more smart. They are capable of making quick and correct decisions.

The Input Unit, the CPU, and the Output Unit form the Computer System. All the three work collectively. Their collective work helps us in calculations. The Computer gets its meaning from this kind of togetherness.
