Events Affect Programs

An Event occurs when a Software Program is running. A Hardware Unit may cause an Event. An Event may be triggered by a piece of Software.

Pressing action on the ENTER key of a connected keyboard is regarded as an Event. Keyboard generated Event originates from Computer Hardware ( Yes, the Keyboard is a part of Computer Hardware ). This Event is recognized by the Computer System.

Computer Hardware may be the source of an Event. It may be the case that an Event caused by Hardware is  handled by another piece of  Hardware. In this case the piece of  Hardware is the Event Handler.

These days specialized Hardware is very much used. Specialized Hardware may be directed to take action on an Event that occurred.

Programming mistakes are called as Errors. It is a mistake by a Programmer to perform an operation that is not allowed. When Error(s) occur, they are systematically reported to a Programmer. Errors are properly handled. Error Management is a part of Software Product. Programming Errors are also categorized as Events.

We can say that a Computer System empowers a user to observe the result of Events. Computer Software is indeed helpful in recording the occurrence of an Event. Some Events are helpful while others are not.

Occurrence of an Event, is followed by processing of the Event. Software may be said to be responsible for processing of the Event.

Processing of an Event produces  results. These results  may be available with the Software that processed the Event. It may happen that the result of a Event is felt and captured by Computer Hardware.

Two most important points regarding an Event:

( A ) Event has origin

( B ) Event produces effect

When an Event has happened, the future course of action can be decided by the Computer.

Interface Message Processor ( IMP )

Interface Message Processor ( IMP ) is a special purpose Computer. The Processor plays a vital role in Host-to-Host communication. IMP is placed between Host Computers.  IMP helps Hosts to exchange information. IMPs ( Interface Message Processors ) form a group. The group dedicates itself towards reliable transmission of Packets. _________________________ Note: An Interface Message Processor can be supposed to have a face. Firstly this supposed face of IMP is in the direction of the first Host, which sends the  message. Secondly, this face is turned towards the other Host.  Now, the IMP,  with its face turned around, communicates with this other Host.  Transformed message from IMP is communicated to this Host. __________________________ Message ( a piece of information ) sent from the Host ( source of information  ) is transformed into Packets. Transformation of the message into Packets is performed by an IMP. These Packets are forwarded to the receiver H...
